My review on this week's performance:
I could care less about others performances except for KZ and Joan Da (no pun intended) their performance last week stood out amongst the rest. Joan Da's rendition of Nobela just totally won me over and KZ's playful take on Huling El Bimbo was amazing.
So week 6, while Jeric was suprisingly good with his version of Careless Whisper (shocking that he did great), while the consistent vocals of Gab seems to give its unexpected turn. When for the past weeks Gab was one of the front-runners and Jeric as much as I like this guys voice, he is terribly inconsistent with his notes. Sya pa naman ang gusto ko noong week 1 kasama ng AKA Jam.
Let's review two of the best vocals of this season....
KZ Tandingan song choice was Eternal Flame by The Bangles.
- wrong song choice, it doesn't fit her
- although she tried to make it her own
- last ditch effort near the end to do adlibs and scatting??
- Oh gosh! Why did she do that! (scatting)
- there's nothing she can do with that song artistically anyways, 'cause the melody on that song is just the way it is.
- I didn't get to look much of her dress but I think this is much better than the crap one she had last week
- she was much better last week IMHO
Joan Da song choice was Billie Jean by Michael Jackson
- this arrangement was from Chris Cornell, which is popularized by David Cook on American Idol
- also there was a similar version of this at X-factor US, a first female take on the song by Drew Ryniewicz (watch it here)
- good song choice, she sang great but it was just simple (just like the rest of the songs she sang every week). She could have at least took a moment with the song and take it to another level. Well, that's the problem I have with her. She has a great voice, but she can't really own the song.
- too dark make-up, I hardly care what she was wearing (was it a Server wardrobe???) I miss her glasses!
- she look awkward performing on stage; I would have preferred if she just stood there and give an emotional rendition instead
- the dancers were great btw
Prediction Bottom 2: Daddy's Home / Joan Da
Here's the result on last weeks X-Factor Philippines. ~_~
Disclaimer: So sad to see Joan Da leaving this early, I would have wanted someone else out there booted out. She makes good song choices week by week. I would have wanted her kahit umabot man lang ng TOP 5. Well, I guess runaway winner na si KZ Tandingan.. unless ABS-CBN have other plans in forming a trio with Marcelo, Jovit and Kedebon. (Funny but ridiculous!!!) If manalo yung clown naku ha it'll be a waste of time watching this. What more if compared to other X-factor Franchise..grabe lang!!!!
